Letter from Gaylord Gill,
president of HVCA
To the HVCA Team:
For some time now, the HVCA Board of Directors has been working on defining
and shaping a new organization to complement our recently-developed strategic
plan. As articulated in this plan, we are striving to become a premier arts
center that provides expanded offerings to an expanded service area.
Working through various planning committees, we have created a document titled
The HVCA Organization. This document establishes some guiding principles for
us, and then describes the structure of the organization. The structure
consists of thirteen defined business functions, and we are looking to assign
a leader to each of the functions.
A pivotal role in this new organization is that of the Executive Director. The
Board wants to bring a fresh perspective to this position, so we have expanded
the responsibilities and changed the emphasis toward growth of the
organization. More than ever before, this position must provide strong
leadership in directing the operations of HVCA, ensuring that a diverse team
of volunteers is pulling together to achieve our goals and objectives. Each of
the function leaders will report to the Executive Director.
We have also added the position of Office Manager. This new role will focus on
the day-to-day running of the business office and the gallery, freeing the
Executive Director to focus on developing programs, promoting the organization
and gaining new income sources. The Office Manager also reports to the
Executive Director.
The Board has decided to initiate a job search so that we might have the
opportunity to review several candidates for these two positions. Job
descriptions for the new Executive Director and Office Manager positions are
attached, and anyone currently on the HVCA team may apply. Further, if anyone
knows of potential candidates outside of HVCA, we ask that you share the
information with them.
Inquiries and resumes may be sent to HVCA Board Member Leslie Watson. She may
be reached during the day at 248-684-1004, or via email at
Leslie.Watson4@gte.net.
