Education
Francis R. Johnson: Educated in Ann Arbor Public Schools and the University of Michigan B of advertising Design under grad through 2 post grad degrees and Wayne State U B of Art Education. Spent 3 years as an art teacher in Detroit then became an art teacher and counselor in Milford High School in Michigan. Retired in 1984. Extra photography studies at Center for Creative Studies and U of Arizona Plus Green Valley Camera Club. Taught in MI public schools for 18 years and counselor for 4 years. Also taught photography at Pima College, GV, AZ. I saw Ansel Adams last show in 1976 and went back to MI and bought a camera and discovered my medium of expression and style. 1978 I won my first Best of Show and Purchase award in juried MEA purchase award MAEA-R purchase award in 1978.
Juried Shows
Many purchase prizes among juried art shows, among those: 'Bristol Cone Pine,' Mil Valley Council for the Arts for Milford Library on loan, Michigan; MAEA-R juried purchase prizes 'Ready for Flight,' Bristol Cone Pine, CA : Lawrence Ln, MI Arizona National League of American Pen Women Arizona and Awards of Excellence in NLAPW State and National juried art shows. 'Wiapaio Valley, Hawaii,' Michigan State Fair 1st and Best of Show 'Jack in Pulpit;' Award of Merit Tubac Art Institute for San Xavier Mission;' Tubac, Arizona, and many others too numerous to mention. 4/20/09 Two poems and photos juried into VFAA PAN Exhibit.
