Village Fine Arts Association Juried Show

Dean Rogers, An Irish Lass in Autumn

The Village Fine Arts Association (VFAA) was founded in 1992 in order to provide a forum for local artists to explore, expand and share their love of art.  Members work in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, fabric clay, and other mediums.  This group of over 65 members meets monthly to share their interests and create beautiful works of art.  There is a strong friendship and collaboration between the VFAA and the HVCA, and this month’s exhibition will prove to be a spectacular collage of talent.

This year’s annual VFAA show will be juried by a panel of prominent local professionals in the arts community, and the prizes awarded will be Juror’s Favorite and Viewers Choice.  Both of these will be cash awards as well as generous gift certificates provided by our friends and long time supporters at Main Street Art in Milford.

Join us as we celebrate our creative collaboration at the opening of the show and sale on Friday June 5th with a reception that is guaranteed to be fun and lively!  The exhibition runs through June 28th.

Dan Keller “People and Places in Time”

HVCA presents Contemporary realist, Dan Keller’s solo exhibition during our July Show & Sale. Entitled “People and Places in Time,” his paintings are a 'response to ideas' focusing on the expressive characteristics of figures.  Working in a larger scale, and using oil and acrylic, Dan’s primary motivation as an artist comes from the study of art history, from nature, and from educating his students.  “…in my opinion, the challenge of teaching is comparable to creating a painting--one must confront both with knowledge, wit, and spontaneity."

Currently teaching at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, as well as Wayne State University and Macomb Community College, Dan is an art scholar known for his demonstrations, critiques, and unfailing ability as an art juror.  Having won numerous awards, his work can be found in the collections of Masco Corporation and the Detroit Engineering Society.
HVCA is honored to welcome Dan Keller, and invite the public to meet him at our opening reception on July 10th from 7-9PM.
*Please note that due to the July 4th holiday weekend, this opening reception will be held on the 2nd Friday of the month.

Double Exposure, Photography and Poetry

by Gerry and Lori Pas

This month’s featured artists are partners in life and creativity, Gerry and Lori Pas, both are inspired by the beauty that comes from living passionately.  Their passions are for the arts, for family and friendships and for spiritual connections to everyone and everything.  His motto is “stay focused”.  Hers is “solely attend to beauty”.  Together their mottos mesh into “stay focused on beauty”!  This outlook makes for a life of rich experiences.  These experiences are what they desire to share through their photographic images in their current show and sale, Double Exposure.

Gerry’s photography is a revelation of who he feels he is.  He transforms shape, color, form and passion into an image that inspires and delights the viewer.

Lori’s creative process provokes a feeling an intimacy for her, whether it is writing poetry or taking pictures. She feels in touch with divinity, in the scene, in the person, in the words, in silence and stillness.  She “hears” the words of a poem as they emerge.

Together Gerry and Lori present a show of their individual as well as their collaborative works in art photography and poetry. With their upcoming show "Double Exposure" this couple will offer us images they have been working on since their previous endeavor: The Artists Project," whereby the couple took environmental portraits of more than one hundred artists in the Huron Valley , creating an exhibition and a book as a gift to the community.

PLEASE NOTE: This show and sale WILL NOT open on the usual First Friday of the month due to Milford Memories taking place at that time.  Instead,  Double Exposure, will have its opening reception on August 14th from 7-9PM.  A fun and friendly evening is a certainty for this special event.  Show runs through the end of the month.
