HIGHLIGHTS:

TOUR the Fire & Clay Studio, with explanation of machinery & tools.
LOTTERY - Participants will each choose a bisque-fired pot to be glazed
RAKU DEMONSTRATION - The kiln will be pre-fired and ready to pull approx ˝ hr after our assigned start time. Everyone will be able to see the process of the post fire reduction.
GLAZING INSTRUCTION & TECHNIQUE - Different types of glazes will be provided: Dry copper, Luster copper & White Crackle
HANDS-ON PARTICIPATION -Everyone will glaze his/her own pot. Firings take about 45 minutes to 1 hour
FINALLY
The Kiln Master {Jim} will remove the pots from the kiln: Each person will do their own post fire reduction. Materials, such as sawdust, newspaper, and straw will be provided. More importantly, everyone will be able to clean and take home their own Raku piece.
A potluck lunch will end the day-see sign on sheet.

                             Class for elementary students for Kite Making.

 Learn how to make a kite so that you can enter the Kite Contest on May 17th after the Hi White Parade in Highland.

You will be in the parade. The kite must be able to fly and decorated.

Our van will leave from Highland Station House. Tour will include famous Detroit Downtown buildings, like Fisher Bldg, Guardian Bldg... Lunch at Downtown (not included in fee). Fee: $30

Presenting an evening of 19th Century music in the authentic style of the Early American Minstrels will be Tim Twiss on the fretless banjo, Neil Woodward on fiddle, and  Sandor Slomovits (of the duo Gemini) on bones and percussion. It is an event for all ages.

On Display selected works from the HVCA Gallery exhibit from the Huron Valley Schools May Celebration of Elementary art, and  the winning designs from the HVCA Community Kite Contest.
