As a young kid I always
enjoyed making things. No matter what –
I was intrigued
with the materials, shapes, color, tools, or any various aspect
that went into a certain project. In college I knew that metals and
jewelry were to be my concentration, but in my senior year I took
the required Ceramics class and from there I was hooked.
My teaching career was spent
building a college level pottery program at Lakeland High School,
and near the end of my career I was smitten by the “tile “
bug after taking a week long tile workshop at Miami of Ohio.
This
led to the making of a tile mural at L.H.S. which hangs in the
library. Now that I am retired from teaching I continue with clay
for my amusement and fun. The learning never ends.
